Hockey in the city of Boston is similar to the rest of the major sports organizations in the New England region. They have extremely passionate fans and they support their teams that always perform at a high level. The Bruins are always considered a top contender in the NHL. In each of the last five seasons the Bruins were able to reach the playoffs. They were able to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup when they defeated the Vancouver Canucks in 2010. In 2012, they were able to return to the finals but were defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 2014-15 Boston Bruins feature a team that is good if not great in every aspect of the game. They have the talent on their second and third lines that most teams can’t compete with. Players that are on the bottom lines for Boston would more than likely be featured on the first line of other teams. Patrice Bergeron is the team’s ultimate playmaker. Whether he is putting the puck in the net or setting up his teammates the Center Forward from Quebec is nearly impossible to contain on the ice. Along side Bergeron will be Left Wing Brad Marchand. The undersized wing is a game changer that isn’t afraid to drop a shoulder while playing defense, and can take the puck from one to the other in order to make a play.
Boston isn’t shy of doing whatever it takes in order to seal a victory. They play a fast and physical game with an intensity that is difficult for opponents to match. Another difficulty opponents will face this season while playing Boston will be being able to score goals. First line of defense for the Bruins includes the 6’9” Czechoslovakian, Zdeno Chara. If an opposing player is lucky enough to get past him, they then have the challenge of attempting to beat Tuukka Rask. In his seven year career the goalie from Finland has a save percentage of .926. A well-balanced attack on the ice will keep the Bruins in contention throughout the regular season. It will come as a shock to almost any NHL fan if somehow the Bruins are unable to make the playoffs in the 2014-15 season.
