Donovan McNabb threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns while completing 21 of 26 passes and Kevin Curtis finished with 221 yards receiving and three touchdowns as the Philadelphia Eagles grabbed their first win of the year with a convincing 56-21 pounding of the Detroit Lions.
McNabb helped Curtis to an NFL record-tying performance for a first half as the five-year vet had 205 yards receiving in the opening 30 minutes.
Overshadowed by the performance of McNabb and Curtis was Brian Westbrook who actually equaled the 221 yards and three touchdowns put up by the Eagles wide receiver. Westbrook had 111 yards receiving and a touchdown while totaling 110 yards on the ground and a pair of TDs.
The win moved the Eagles to 1-2 on the year and eased the pressure put on McNabb after the team started off the season with less than impressive offensive stats.
In the loss Lions quarterback Jon Kitna threw for 446 yards and two touchdowns while Roy Williams had 204 yards receiving and a touchdown. While the passing game was working for the Lions their running game was nearly shut out as the Eagles front line held
