NFL Sunday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys Dominate Chicago Bears in NFC Battle

Atlanta, Ga. 9/24/2007 11:56:37 AM

Tony Romo threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns while Terrell Owens finished with eight receptions and 145 yards as the Dallas Cowboys (3-0) pounded the Chicago Bears (1-2) 34-10 to lay claim to the title of best team in the NFC.

The Cowboys had little trouble moving the ball against the feared Bears defense as they finished with 431 yards of total offense as they embarrassed Chicago at Soldier Field. While the two team splayed to a 3-3 tie at halftime it was the Cowboys who came out in the second half ready to prove a point.

Romo hit Jason Whitten on a 3-yard touchdown pass for a brief 10-3 lead but the Bears countered with a one-yard touchdown run from Cedric Benson to even the score once again. Dallas then went up for good when Romo found Marion Barber III on a 10-yard pass with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter.

It was all Dallas in the fourth as they extended their lead to ten points on a 44-yard field goal from Nick Folk. That lead was boosted to a 27-10 advantage when Anthony Henry picked off a Rex Grossman pass and returned it 28-yards for a touchdown. Barber closed out the scoring for the Cowboys, this time with a one-yard run that capped a dominant performance.

Grossman heard the boos from the Chicago faithful as the quarterback finished 15 of 32 for 195 yards and three interceptions.
