Boise State Uses Big First Half to Beat Southern Miss
Taylor Tharp threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while Ian Johnson rushed for 111 yards and three TDs as the Boise State Broncos (3-1) racked up 507 yards of total offense to easily handle the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (2-2) 38-16.
The Broncos scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns as Tharp hit Jeremy Childs on a 14-yard strike and then found Richie Brockel on a two-yard toss for a 14-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
Justin Estes was able to put the Golden Eagles on the board with a 39-yard field goal but the Broncos quickly struck again as Johnson scored on a 12-yard run and then broke free for a 22-yard touchdown and Boise State was up 28-3. Southern Miss was able to find the endzone just before the half ended when Damion Fletcher scored on a one-yard run but the Golden Eagles would only score one more time as the Broncos proved to be too much.
