Casey Fitzsimmons returned an onside kick 41-yards for a touchdown to cap an amazing 34-point fourth quarter that gave the Detroit Lions a 37-27 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Having trailed 13-3 heading into the final frame the Lions found an answer for the Bears defense and finally crossed the Goal line on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Jon Kitna to Shaun McDonald early in the quarter.
The Lions then grabbed their first lead since the opening period when Keith Smith picked off Brian Griese and returned it 64-yards for a touchdown. That lead was short lived for the Lions as Devin Hester took the ensuing kickoff back 97-yards for a score and the Bears were back in front 20-17.
Undeterred,
Forced to try an onside kick the Bears instead surrendered a 41-yard return for a touchdown from Fitzsimmons.
Kitna finished with 247 yards passing and two touchdowns while Griese, in his first start this year, threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns on 34 of 52 passing. Griese was also picked off three times.
