Atlanta Falcons Handle Former QB to Beat Houston Texans, Earn First Win of Year

Atlanta, Ga. 10/1/2007 4:43:22 AM

Morten Anderson kicked four field goals and Joey Harrington passed for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Atlanta Falcons beat former quarterback Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans 26-16 on Sunday for their first win of the year.

Atlanta improved to 1-3 on the year while the Texans fell to 2-2.

Schaub, the Flacons backup to Michael Vick last year, put the Texans in front 7-3 in the first quarter when he hit Andre Davis on a 35-yard touchdown pass but the Falcons answered with a Harrington to Michael Jenkins touchdown that put the Falcons back in front.

Harrington and Jenkins hooked up again in the second quarter on a 7-yard touchdown to boost the Falcons lead to 17-7. Anderson added a 22-yard field goal in the quarter to push the advantage to 20-7 but the Texans managed to get on the board just before the half with a 42-yard field goal from Kris Brown.

Brown cut the lead to seven with another Benson field goal in the third but Anderson countered with a 36-yard field goal. Both teams traded field goals in the fourth quarter as well to account for all the scoring.

Schaub finished with 317 yards passing and a touchdown but the Texans shot themselves sin the foot with two fumbles.
