The New York Giants defense took advantage of the absence of Brian Westbook and sacked Donovan McNabb 12 times and limited the Philadelphia Eagles to just 190 yards of total offense in their 16-3 victory on Sunday night.
Osi Umenyiora had half of the sack total for the Giants who consistently put pressure on McNabb and forced him to scramble on a night in which he finished just 15 of 31 for 138 yards.
Eli Manning wasn’t much better than McNabb but did toss a first quarter touchdown to Plaxico Burress to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. The score remained 7-0 until the third quarter when Lawrence Tynes kicked a 29-yard field goal to boost
The Giants then forced a McNabb fumble and Kawika Mitchell returned it 17-yards for a touchdown to make the score 16-0.
David Akers provided the only points of the game for the Eagles when he kicked a 53-yard field goal in the fourth.
