Travis Henry is facing a one-year suspension after violating the NFL substance abuse policy.
Henry, who signed a five-year $22.5 million contract with the Denver Broncos prior to the season, is currently leading the league with 433 yards rushing. The 28-year-old had to serve a four game suspension in 2005 while he was with the Tennessee Titans following a violation of the same policy.
In order to confirm the positive drug test the NFL would have to test a “B-sample,” a move that Henry is trying to block. That battle has already elevated to the federal; court system where Henry has argued that the sample should not be used because the NFL would not allow his expert to be present when the NFL tested the sample.
It has been a rough week for Henry as he’s been forced to miss the entire week of practice due to a knee and ankle injury that he sustained in last Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
