Tony Romo threw five interceptions and fumbled once yet the Dallas Cowboys somehow managed to put themselves in position to win the game and with 2 seconds left on the clock Nick Folk kicked a 52-yard field goal not once but twice to beat the Buffalo Bills 25-24 on Monday Night Football.
With the win the Dallas Cowboys improved to 5-0 on the year while the loss dropped the Buffalo Bills to 1-4.
The fact that Folk even had the opportunity to kick the first attempt was a miracle in itself as it came shortly after the Cowboys two-point conversion following a touchdown fell short with 20 seconds left on the clock.
Trailing 24-22 the Cowboys were forced to try an onside kick and third-string tight end Tony Curtis recovered a deflection to give
Staring at a 52-yard field goal attempt after already kicking his career long, a 47-yarder to end the first half, Folk had two ticks on the clock when he struck the perfect kick between the pipes and sent the Cowboys into a frenzy. After Folk kicked his second field goal of the game, 1 29-yarder in the third quarter, the Cowboys trailed 17-13 and looked primed to chase down the Bills but on the ensuing kickoff Terrence McGee took the return 103 yards for a touchdown and the Bills pushed their lead to 24-13.
The Cowboys climbed to within 24-16 when Folk kicked his third field goal of the game early in the fourth, setting up a dramatic touchdown with 24 seconds left on the clock as Romo hit Patrick Crayton on a 4-yard pass to pull within 24-22. On the two-point conversion attempt Romo lofted a ball to Owens in the corner but Bills corner Jabari Greer stripped the ball from Owens and it looked like
The only thing the Bills would have to do was secure the onside kick. That didn’t happen and the rest will go down in Cowboys history as one of the most remarkable wins in memory.
