John Schuerholz, the man that helped orchestrate 14 straight playoff appearances for the Atlanta Braves, has reportedly decided to step down as general manager. While Schuerholz will no longer carry the GM post he is expected to stay on as president.
A press conference is scheduled for 3:30 pm in which Shuerholz is expected to make the announcement, as well as introduce Frank Wren as the team’s new GM. Wren had served the position of assistant GM over the past seven seasons.
While Schuerholz found success a standard from 1991-2005 the past two seasons have been difficult for the Braves as they missed the playoffs both seasons after finishing third in the NL East.
