Riley Skinner hit Kenneth Moore on a 35-yard touchdown pass for the go-ahead score and Sam Swank kicked a 48-yard field goal to push the advantage to ten as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons beat the #21 Florida State Seminoles 24-21 on Thursday night.
With the win
Wake jumped to a 7-0 lead in the second quarter when Josh Adams busted an 83-yard touchdown run on the first play following an FSU punt. The Seminoles answered with a six play 63-yard touchdown drive of their own that was capped by a Xavier Lee 6-yard TD pass to Preston Parker.
The Deacons had a perfect opportunity to take the lead after recovering a Lee fumble at their own 19-yard line but on their first play from scrimmage
In the third quarter Wake was able to capitalize off a Lee interception as they staged a 9 play 80-yard drive to tie the score 14-14 when Skinner hit
Skinner then led the Deacons on an 82-yard drive in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a 35-yard toss to
Lee then brought the Seminoles to within three with 17 seconds left but it was wasn’t enough to avoid the upset.
