College Football Scores: Perfect Season Over for #2 California Golden Bears in Stunning Loss to Oregon State
In a stunning turn of events the #2 California Golden Bears went from being in a position to beat
With less than 14 seconds left on the clock and no timeouts Cal quarterback Kevin Riley took the snap at the OSU 12-yard line with enough time to look for a game winning touchdown, instead he scrambled and was brought down in the middle of the field and before the Bears could get their kicking game on the field the clock expired.
It looked as if it was meant to be when Riley hit Hawkins for 19 yards on a fourth and 17 to keep the drive alive and then picked up a 15 yard pass interference with 18 seconds on the clock that put the ball on the OSU 12 but Riley’s inability to throw the ball away cost Cal an opportunity to kick a game-tying field goal.
Yvenson Bernard was the sparkplug for the Beavers upset as the senior running back collected 111 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and had another 53 yards receiving.
