While it wasn’t his best performance in his storied career, Brett Favre did enough to lead the Green Bay Packers past the Washington Redskins 17-14 on Sunday.
With the win the Packers improved to 5-1 on the season while the Redskins dropped to 3-2 after the loss.
Offensively, the Packers had a tough time getting anything going as they totaled just 225 yards but their defense stepped up big to provide enough support to get the job done. The key play of the game came in the third quarter when Charles Woodson scooped took a Santana Moss fumble back 57-yards to give the Packers a 17-14 advantage.
The game also featured yet another record for Favre, albeit a dubious distinction. Early in the second half Favre spotted a wide open James Jones in the endzone put the pass hung in the air and was picked off by Sean Taylor, career interception number 278 for Favre. That surpassed a record he had shared with Hall of Famer George Blanda.
