NFL Scores: Tom Brady Too Much as New England Patriots Roll Past Dallas Cowboys

Atlanta, Ga. 10/15/2007 7:49:35 AM

Tom Brady threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns, Donte’ Stallworth had 136 yards receiving and a touchdown and Wes Welker finished with 124 yards through the air and two TDs as the New England Patriots rolled past the Dallas Cowboys 48-27 on Sunday evening.

The win kept the New England Patriots perfect on the year at 6-0 while the loss dropped the Dallas Cowboys to 5-1 on the season.

New England jumped o a 14-0 lead after Brady tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter to Randy Moss and Welker but the Cowboys came back in the second quarter and scored the first ten points of the frame with a field goal from Nick Folk and a 29-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Jason Hatcher.

Brady found Welker for his second touchdown pass of the game to push the Patriots lead to 21-10 but Tony Romo found Terrell Owens on a 12-yard touchdown to put the score at 21-17 at halftime.

Dallas came out in the second half and quickly grabbed the lead when Romo found Patrick Crayton on an 8-yard touchdown pass for a 24-21 advantage.

It was new territory for the Patriots who had yet to trail a game in the second half this year. Rather than become rattled Brady led the Patriots down the field and quickly reclaimed the lead on a 1-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Brady.

The Patriots then tacked on a field goal from Stephen Gostkowski to push their lead to 31-24 at the end of the third quarter.

On their first possession of the fourth quarter Brady hit Stallworth on a 69-yard touchdown pass to jump to a 38-24 lead that deflated the Cowboys hopes of staying perfect.

Dallas could only manage a field goal from Folk in the fourth quarter as the Patriots added another field goal from Gostkowski and a 1-yard touchdown run from Kyle Eckel.
