Week 6 NFL Scores: Jacksonville Jaguars Use Running Attack to Pound Houston Texans

Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns and David Garrard threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns as the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Houston Texans 37-17 on Sunday.

 

The Jacksonville Jaguars improved to 4-1 on the year while the Houston Texans fell to 3-3 on the season.

 

Houston jumped to a 6-0 lead but the Jaguars got on the board with a Garrard to George Wrighster 1-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to take the lead. Jacksonville extended their lead to 10-6 on a John Carney 37-yard field goal with less than one minute left in the opening half.

 

Heading into the fourth quarter Jacksonville held a 16-9 lead but Jones-Drew took over in the final frame with a 7-yard touchdown run and a 57-yard score. Jacksonville’s defense got in on the scoring as well when Daryl Smith picked it up a Matt Schaub fumble and returned it 77-yards for a touchdown.

 

Jacksonville’s defense limited the Texans running game to just 61 yards on the ground.
