Monday Night Football: NY Giants Handle Business on the Road as they Drop Flightless Falcons

Atlanta, Ga. 10/16/2007 11:54:28 AM

Eli Manning threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns and Plaxico Burress had 97 yards receiving and a TD while the NY Giants defense held the Atlanta Falcons scoreless after the 5:14 mark in the first quarter to win 31-10 on Monday Night Football.

Atlanta scored first after Morten Andersen kicked a 47-yard field goal on their opening drive but Manning led the Giants down the field and capped a 73-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown toss to Amani Toomer.

The Falcons countered with a quick strike as Jarius Norwood busted free for a 67-yard touchdown run to give Atlanta a 10-7 lead. Once again Manning had little trouble picking apart the Falcons defense as he hit Burress for 18-yards, Jeremy Shockey for 21-yards and Toomer for 17-yards before Reuben Droughns ran it in from a yard out.

New York extended their lead to 21-10 in the second quarter when Manning hit Burress on a 43-yard touchdown pass and that was the way the half would end.

The Giants would add another ten points in the fourth quarter highlighted by a 9-yard touchdown run from Derrick Ward.
