David Beckham could return after injury on Thursday as a substitute in the Los Angeles Galaxy's league game against the New York Red Bulls.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since spraining ligaments in his right knee in the Aug. 29 SuperLiga final. Beckham returned to practice Oct. 2. Before injuring his knee, he had been playing on a sprained left ankle since June.
Beckham's absence has coincided with a turnaround in fortunes for the Galaxy, who have won their last five games and have a chance of reaching the playoffs with two matches left to play. The Galaxy could qualify with a tie against the Red Bulls and a win against the Chicago Fire on Sunday, depending on the results in Kansas City's and Colorado's games.
His very hyped entrance into American sports culture has been stifled due to his injuries this season. Many journalists focus on wife Victoria Beckham as much as his own play and healing process.
