Boston Red Sox Back on Track as Josh Beckett Shuts Down Cleveland Indians
Josh Beckett threw eight innings of five hit ball, allowing just one run while striking out 11 to lead the Boston Red Sox past the Cleveland Indians 7-1 in a must-win game five. With the win the Red Sox now return to
The Sox got on the board in the first inning when Kevin Youkalis homered off Indians starter C.C. Sabathia but Cleveland answered in the bottom of the frame when Grady Sizemore scored on a double-play off the bat of Travis Hafner.
Sabathia managed to get through six innings but was chased in the top of the seventh after giving up a leadoff double to Dustin Pedroia and a triple off the bat of Youkilis. Indians manager Eric Wedge went to Rafael Betancourt who gave up a sacrifice fly to Ortiz that put the Red Sox in front 4-1.
