The Dallas Mavericks will be without starting guard/forward Josh Howard when the season opens after the NBA suspended the 27-year-old for striking Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller in the back of the head and pushing him in the back.
Miller had been jawing with Mavericks guard Devin Harris during the second period of their preseason game on Tuesday when Howard ran across the court to get involved in the action.
Now Howard will miss the Mavericks Oct. 31 game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and their Nov. 2 game against the Atlanta Hawks. Both contests are on the road.
