Pascal Leclaire stopped all 21 shots he faced in goal and Rick Nash netted a goal and assisted on another as the Columbus Blue Jackets (3-2-1) skated past the Buffalo Sabres (3-3-0) 3-0 on Friday night.
The shutout was Leclaire’s third of the season and came against a Sabres squad that had already scored 24 goals in five games.
Both sides went scoreless in the first period but the Blue Jackets found the back of the net 6:31 into the second when Michael Peca scored on an assist from Nash. Less than seven minutes later Nash scored on a power play to boost the
Nikolai Zherdev added an empty-netter in the final minute of the third period to cap the scoring.
