College Football Scores: #14 USC Trojans Travel to South Bend and Embarrass Notre Dame
Mark Sanchez threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns and the USC Trojans defense limited the Notre Dame Fighting Irish offense to just 165 total yards in an embarrassing 38-0 blowout in
Notre Dame managed to collect just ten first downs in the game and were held to a paltry 48 yards on the ground as college football’s worst overall offense got nothing going against a USC team determined to put the last few unimpressive weeks behind them.
USC simply had their way with the Irish as they collected 462 yards of total offense with a balanced attack that Notre Dame’s defense struggled to stop. Joe McKnight paced the Trojans running game with 65 of their 227 yards on the ground while Vidal Hazelton was the leading receiver with 80 of the 235 yards USC amassed through the air.
USC’s 38-point win was the largest margin of victory they have produced against Notre Dame in the 79 games in which the two storied programs have played each other.
With the win the USC Trojans improved to 6-1 on the year while Notre Dame dropped to 1-7, a record they’ve only had one other time since starting their program in 1887.
