Jason Elam kicked a 49-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Denver Broncos (3-3) past the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) 31-28 on Sunday night. Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler finished with 248 yards passing and three touchdowns.
The Broncos headed into the fourth quarter with a 28-14 lead but the Steelers cut the lead to 28-21 when Ben Roethlisberger hit Matt Spaeth on a 13-yard touchdown with ten minutes on the clock.
After forcing the Broncos to punt on their next possession, the Steelers took over on their own 22 yard line and began a 12-play drive that chewed up 6:37 off the clock and ended on a Roethlisberger to Heath Miller 12-yard touchdown to tie the game at 28-28.
With 1:10 left on the clock the Broncos had one last shot and quarterback Jay Cutler moved the offense down in efficient fashion. After getting down to the Steelers 39 yard line with 33 seconds left on the clock Cutler’s 9-yard toss to D. Graham was ruled incomplete but
