Evgeni Malkin scored in the first minute of the second period and that was all goalie Marc-Andre Fleury would need as the Pittsburgh Penguins (5-3-0) beat the New York Rangers (2-5-1) 1-0 on Tuesday night.
Malkin’s goal came on a power play just as the second period was getting under way. Ryan Whitney and Sidney Crosby picked up an assist on the goal, and it proved to be enough as Fleury stopped all 36 shots he faced in the win.
Despite taking 14 more shots than the Penguins the Rangers dropped to 0-4-1 on the road this year.
