Paul Kariya collected three assists and added a late goal into an empty net to lead the St. Louis Blues (5-2-0) past the Anaheim Ducks (4-6-1) 4-2 on Tuesday night.
After skating through a scoreless first period both teams brought their offensive firepower into the second with Andy McDonald getting the scoring started for the Ducks. It was McDonald’s goal at 1:37 into the second that gave
Keith Tkachuk scored the tying goal in the second and then the Blues took advantage of their power-play opportunities and scored twice, both off the stick of Brad Boyes to take the 3-1 advantage. All three of the Blues second period goals were assisted by Kariya.
Less than a minute after Boyes second goal Mark Mowers pulled the Ducks to within one when he slipped one past Blues goalie Manny Legace.
Despite having a man advantage for much of the third period the Ducks couldn’t manage to get anything going and Kariya capped his night with an empty-netter to seal the game.
