Seattle Supersonics guard/forward Kevin Durant sprained his ankle last night in a preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. Durant had 21 points in the 126-122 overtime loss.
The former Naismith Player of the Year was injured in the final minutes of the game.
The X-rays on his ankle were negative, but the team does not know if he would travel with the team to Portland for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Seattle plays two more preseason games, Wednesday at Portland and Friday against Phoenix in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Sonics hope that this is not an injury that will take a long recovery. After Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, underwent microfracture surgery in September and was forced to sit out of his rookie season, Seattle was seen to have had the one-up in the draft by picking Durant second. Hopefully, Durant will not have to sacrifice much, if any, of his rookie season.
