BCS Rankings Week 3: Ohio State and Boston College Retain Top Spots as Little Changes in Poll

Atlanta, Ga. 10/29/2007 8:21:56 AM

In college football’s relatively subdued Week 9, the BCS rankings changed very little from where they were last week.

Ohio State proved their mettle on Saturday when they pounded the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road. For many, the victory squashed many of the doubters who questioned the Buckeyes schedule. Ohio State still has Wisconsin next week followed by Illinois and they close the season at Michigan.

The Boston College Eagles showed they could overcome struggles and still win as they scored two touchdowns in the final minutes against Virginia Tech to remain undefeated. Boston College still has FSU, Clemson and Miami as major hurdles on their schedule.

LSU retained their #3 ranking after enjoying a week off. With a week to prepare for Alabama next week, the Tigers are set to run through the rest of their regular season schedule before the SEC Championship game.

As surprising as B.C. has been, nobody expected this much from the Arizona State Sun Devils. The big challenge comes next week when Arizona State travels to Oregon to take on the Ducks in a game that will have national title ramifications.

If the Oregon Ducks can get by Arizona State next week they stand a great chance at winning the Pac-10 and earning a shot at the BCS title game.
