The Lakers and their franchise player, Kobe Bryant, have been going back and forth for the majority of the year, causing duress within the franchise. Bryant requested a trade earlier in the year. Recently, head coach Phil Jackson questioned Bryant’s heart and effort in games.
Bryant led the NBA in scoring with 31.6 points per game, adding 5.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game as well.
Forward Lamar Odom is one of the league’s most versatile players as he plays three positions for the Lakers. Odom averaged 15.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game last season.
The matchup that everyone wants to see will be Bryant against Rockets guard Tracy McGrady. McGrady, the perennial All-Star, is Bryant’s stiffest competition as the best shooting guard in the West. McGrady averaged 24.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and a career-high 6.5 assists per game.
The combination of McGrady and center Yao Ming is looking more cohesive. They form one of the most deadly combinations in the NBA.
