Sean Glennon threw for 297 yards and two touchdowns and Josh Morgan finished with 104 yards receiving and a touchdown as the #11 Virginia Tech Hokies shut down the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 27-3 on Thursday night.
With the win Virginia Tech improved to 7-2 on the year and 4-1 in the ACC while the loss dropped Georgia Tech to 5-4 on the season and 2-4 in the ACC.
The Yellow Jackets actually took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter but couldn’t put anymore points on the board as the Hokies held the Tech offense to 267 total yards. Georgia Tech did their part in throwing the game away as the committed six turnovers in the game and their defense allowed 482 yards of offense.
Virginia Tech dominated the time of possession as well as they held a 14 minute advantage on the clock.
While Glennon tossed a pair of touchdowns, it was his 2-yard TD run in the second quarter that gave the Hokies a lead they would never surrender. Glennon then connected with Justin Harper on a 40-yard touchdown pass as the Hokies led 17-3 at the break.
Glennon then put the Hokies up 24-3 when he hit Josh Morgan on a 71-yard touchdown in the third quarter to seal the game.
