NHL Playoffs Schedule Thursday April 22: Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers Shooting to Close Out Series, Predators Host Blackhawks
The NHL playoffs have certainly delivered plenty of excitement and on Thursday night a pair of teams can punch their ticket to the second round as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers each hold 3-1 series leads.
Sidney Crosby has been as close to as unstoppable as you can get, giving the Penguins the edge over the Ottawa Senators. Pittsburgh will be on home ice on Thursday night, a bad sign for the Senators who were 18-21-2 on the road during the regular season.
Philadelphia has jumped to a 3-1 series lead on the New Jersey Devils thanks to solid defense and stellar play in goal. The Flyers will have a tough time wrapping up the series on Thursday as the Devils are among the best home teams in the Eastern Conference but Philly is playing with a sense of urgency, something that could pay off tonight.
The San Jose Sharks have been flirting with disaster in their opening round series with the Colorado Avalanche but at 2-2 they can take control Thursday night on home ice. Colorado has proven difficult and shocked the Sharks in Game 1 and did the same in Game 3 making them extremely dangerous.
Heading into the playoffs many people had the Chicago Blackhawks coming out of the Western Conference but they have struggled against the Nashville Predators, falling behind 2-1 in the series. With Game 4 in Nashville the Blackhawks will be facing an enormous challenge but they see it as a must-win.
