NFL Draft First Round: St. Louis Rams on the Clock, Eying Sam Bradford at #1
The 2010 NFL Draft will get underway on Thursday evening with the first round being broadcast live on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. ET. Things will get started with the St. Louis Rams who own the number one overall selection and while many are expecting them to take Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford there remain a number of scenarios that could play out that would effect that decision.
Bradford is considered the top QB in the 2010 NFL Draft, just ahead of Notre Dame’s Jimmy Clausen, but he is not considered the top prospect in the draft. Many analysts have given that title to Tennessee Volunteers safety Eric Berry who could step in immediately and be an impact player.
Barry isn’t the only one ranked ahead of Bradford as his own teammate, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, is considered a safer bet than the quarterback. McCoy is just ahead of Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh who has garnered a ton of attention after a dominant season.
Oklahoma could easily have three of the top ten selections as offensive tackle Trent Williams could fill a team’s needs on day one.
