Calvin Borel Rides Super Saver to Kentucky Derby Crown
Calvin Borel captured his third Kentucky Derby win in four years after riding Super Saver to the winner’s circle and ending an 0 for 24 Derby drought for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Borel steered Super Saver through the 1 ¼-miles of mud-caked track in 2:04.45 to win his second straight Kentucky Derby, last year he stunned the horse-racing world after piloting Mine That Bird to the Kentucky Derby title.
While Super Saver captured the roses it was Ice Box who finished second and Paddy O’Prado who took third.
