NBA Playoffs Schedule Tuesday May 4: Dwight Howard and Orlando Magic Open Series with Atlanta Hawks, Kobe Bryant Looks to Push Lakers to 2-0 Lead on Jazz
The NBA playoffs schedule for Tuesday features a pair of games with the Orlando Magic finally returning to the court to host the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 of their best-of-seven series while Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Utah Jazz back into the Staples Center with hopes of a 2-0 series lead before heading to Salt Lake City.
Dwight Howard and the rest of the Orlando Magic have had a week off since their last game after sweeping the Charlotte Bobcats in the opening round. The Magic had to wait for the Atlanta Hawks to wrap up their series with the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday but now their series is ready to get under way. Orlando held a 3-1 advantage in the regular season with all three wins coming by way of a blowout. Their only loss came on a dunk by Josh Smith as time expired. Orlando has a clear advantage in Dwight Howard and a solid perimeter game that can account for big points. Atlanta has several weapons of their own with Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith capable of influencing the outcome of a game but as a team the Hawks have the tendency to rely too much on isolation points rather than moving the ball. That kind of approach against Orlando will spell disaster as the Magic won’t let a single player beat them and are solid in transition. Kobe Bryant returns to the floor on Tuesday as well as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Utah Jazz in Game 2 of their series. LA survived a scare in Game 1 as the Jazz had a number of opportunities to take control but let the game slip away. Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams will try to get the Jazz back on track and earn a split butif Kobe gets some support from Pau Gasol and Ron Artest the outcome could be the same.
