NBA Playoffs Schedule Sunday May 16: Orlando Magic Host Boston Celtics in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Finals
The NBA playoffs schedule for Sunday feature the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals as the Orlando Magic host the Boston Celtics. Orlando is coming of a pair of sweeps and looking unbeatable while Boston took care of the Miami Heat in the opening round before upsetting LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round.
Dwight Howard has been dominant for the Magic, controlling the defensive end of the court for the Magic while Jameer Nelson has been the offensive catalyst, distributing the ball and finding support from Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and Matt Barnes. That crew simply picked apart the Atlanta Hawks in the second round but could have a few more problems when they meet the Celtics on Sunday.
Boston has the veteran leadership of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce while also having one of the top performers of the playoffs in Rajon Rondo. With Rondo the Celtics will almost certainly look to drive and dump as Howard comes to help, something that could get the big man in foul trouble and put some easy points on the board.
Orlando will likely have Nelson on Rondo but Barnes could be a huge help as well as he proved he could shut down superstars when Joe Johnson failed to have an impact in the Atlanta series. As for Howard, the Celtics will use a lot of their big bodies to bang the Orlando center and try to get him frustrated. The Magic have great perimeter shooting though and if they are hitting on Sunday there might not be much the Celtics can do.
