2010 French Open Round 4 Results: Rafael Nadal Marches On, Advances to Quarterfinals with Straight Set Win Over Thomaz Bellucci
Rafael Nadal appears determined to reclaim the French Open title after a one-year lapse as the Spaniard breezed past Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci on Monday 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
Nadal was able to force the action as he put 74 percent of his first serves in play and captured points on 63 percent of those offerings while also collecting points on 65 percent of his second serves. Nadal also took advantage of just about every opportunity that was presented him as he broke Bellucci’s serve on eight of his eleven opportunities.
Nadal is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2009 French Open where he fell in the fourth round to Robin Söderling. Before that surprising loss Nadal had won the previous four French Open titles. He also has an Australian Open title under his belt as well as a Wimbledon championship, leaving only the U.S. Open as the only Grand Slam event the 23-year-old Spaniard hasn’t won.
