Wimbledon 2010 Round 2 Results: Robin Soderling Cruises into Third Round at All England Club Following Straight Set Win Over Marcel Granollers
Robin Soderling, still searching for his first career Grand Slam singles title, took a step toward reaching that goal after picking apart Marcel Granollers in straight sets 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Club.
Soderling wasn’t perfect, committing 21 unforced errors, but the Swede did win points on 89% of his first serves put in play. Soderling was in complete control with his serve as he never gave Granollers a break point opportunity while he broke the Spaniard on four of his six chances.
Soderling is coming off an appearance in the French Open finals where he fell to Rafael Nadal, the second straight year he finished runner up at Roland Garros. His best finish at Wimbledon has been a fourth round appearance, achieved last year. Following his Wimbledon run he reached the quarterfinals of the 2009 U.S. Open.
