Free speech. The first amendment and Berkeley.

I am going to start this post with something very simple. I do not agree with Antifa. I think they are a radical left-wing terrorist organization that uses violence under the false ideology that they are the moral arbiters of our world. They have now successfully forced Ann Coulter to not speak at Berkeley as of the time of this article. That being said let's dive into it.

The first amendment is the foundation of this great country of ours. The idea that anybody can have a valid opinion and freely share it is one of the most powerful things that a country can provide to its citizens. It means that the government trusts that it behaves in the best interest of its citizens enough were dissenting opinions have a right to air their grievances and thoughts to the general public so that the country as a whole can progress.

Our country has had millions of brave men and women fight and die for that belief. The believe that voices should not be silenced no matter how noble or vile. The best way to defeat "hate speech" is with free speech. Allow individuals to speak their mind to the general public. If it is a fair argument the individuals of the community will embrace it, if it is poor they shall be left fruitless and alone. Censoring speech no matter how vile only serves to make it "subversive" and "alternative."

What's going on in Berkeley is the most anti-American thing possible. Active censoring of ideology. Sure Ann Coulter may be extremely right winged, but who is to say that her message is one that will be embraced? Threatening violence over words only leads down a path where words can be equated to violence. If words are violence, then it can be replied to with violence. Individuals do not have a right to not be offended. If they did then the world would have to be stripped clean of any form of communication. For who is to say that a language is not oppressive. English only survives because it was the spoken language of the British empire. Is it a sign or colonialism and imperialism? Yes, it is.

The Antifa will have you believe they are attempting to silence fascist ideology. Many call them the Alt-Left. I prefer to cal them the Ctrl-Left. They practice thuggery and believe in may of the core principals of fascism themselves. They are heavily engaged in criticism of democracy. They practice Militarism by marching in masks upon campuses and engaging in violence. They also practice class collaboration by forwarding the false narrative that It's the 99% vs the 1%

The best way to better the social sphere is to engage in open debate. If someone is wrong, bring up facts and numbers. NOT "muh feelings"
Freedom of speech can lead to some nasty things being said, Censorship can lead to dictatorial control.

Berkeley is Ground zero for the upcoming culture war. The only question is what side are you on, Freedom of speech or censorship.
