Pollen is back. The dreaded yellow fluff that makes your brand new Mercedes look like a bumble bee. I am not going to give you a miracle remedy to help you instantly cure your sore throat and stuffy nose. What I am going to do is tell you what I use to help me deal with the stuff.
NOTE I am not a medical professional nor is this post to be considered medical advice.
I have been almost taken out of action from it. I'm talking pitchers of hot earl grey tea. Yes, I spelled it with a "e". Tea is British and it deserves its proper spelling.
I use a 4 part home remedy for dealing with my allergies and sore throat. Are you ready to get started? I know I am.
1. Sleep Sleep is critical for making sure you are fighting fit. You will still feel crummy with no sleep and the rest of this list. Being well rested helps your body's immune system rejuvenate and fight off any illnesses and the sorts. I normally shoot for 7-8 hours a day. When feeling something coming on I like to shoot for 9 hours. This extra sleep helps you fell a little bit better.
2. Tea lots of Tea The majority of Americans are coffee drinkers. If this wasn't the case Starbucks would not be the multi-billion dollar caffeine cartel it is today. While Cofee is hot and can help break up the mucus in the back of your throat. It is also acidic and will move in to burn the very area you just revealed. Tea, on the other hand, is soft and gentle. I like to drink mine straight normally. When I have a throat problem such as soreness or allergies, Honey and lemon will be your best friend. The best kinds of tea to drink are peppermint teas and licorice teas. The reason for these kinds is the natural anesthetic in them. This helps numb your throat a little and remove that scratchy itchy feeling from your head.
3. VITAMIN C Good old vitamin C. It acts as a natural anti-histamine. Similar to the active ingredients in other allergy medicines. Anti-Histamines help your symptoms. You can take Claritin for a more concentrated dose of the stuff. My objection to this method is the lack of refreshing Oranje juice. The OJ makes you feel OK. Emergen-C and other name brand products are just concentrated Vitamin C. I like being able to pack some Emergen-C in my bag before I go to work. It allows me to turn any water into a makeshift glass of OJ.
*Note I was not paid by Emergen-C or any affiliated companies.
4. Horehound Drops.
Really any cough drop will do here. In theme with the home remedy, Horehound Drops are a natural cough drop that you can use to help alleviate your cough. Horehound contains marrubium, A pain reliever. I'm quite partial to Ricola brand cough drops, a product I have trusted and used many years. The new dual-action Ricola cough drops are cough drops that have a liquid oral anesthetic that coats your throat on the end of your journey to relief.
That's it. If you have a home remedy that you like. Feel free to leave a comment. Remember to share this post with all your friends so they will be left head high and dry
