Rainbow foods opens its doors 32 years ago, but has always been a one of the original Green food stores. This commitment has not been lost as the store has recently become Green business certified by the Green Business League, and constantly improved its commitment to the environmental and personal health. It is fantastic to see a store like this that was a Green business before the rest of the world caught up to the need for Green practices.
Recently, Rainbow Foods was recognized by the Independent Retailer magazine from Retail Council of Canada in its Spring 2010 edition. Rainbow foods is a worthy candidate for the retailing industry and the Green entrepreneur of the world. In many ways, this is a dream business for those who want to turn their passion into a Green career.
This opens that door of discussion about why there aren't more people stepping up to create jobs regardless of the tail-chasing in congress. It is unfortunate that law-makers can't find the courage to do the right thing. Instead of calling the next bill a "Jobs Bill, why not tell the truth that it is just another tax or regulatory bill that promises jobs but doesn't deliver. Anything called a jobs bills will be anything but a jobs bill unless it happens by accident.
The fact that a Green food store gets this kind of recognition is a signal to the rest of us that you can create a business no matter how tough the economy. It is not necessarily about getting rich, but it is about taking your ingenuity and making a difference in the world around you. This will certainly be a time when some businesses will collapse, but it is also a time when some businesses will emerge.
The Green Business League is pleased to have been involved with Rainbow Foods to provide Green business certification to a very forward-thinking business. Rainbow Foods had its humble beginning, its days of struggle, and times of excitement. What every business can draw from this recognition is the winning ways of those who see the silver lining in every dark cloud.
Green business is no longer a fad, but a way of doing business. Going Green is now becoming an integral part of any reputable business plan, and the role of the Green Business League is vital in that commitment. With more than few businesses Going Green every year, the Green Business League offers the best method for Green certification.
