Former NFL running back Tiki Barber, who played exclusively for the New York Giants from 1997 to 2006, wants to come out of retirement and play in the NFL again. On Tuesday, Barber's agent Mark Lepselter confirmed to ESPN that Barber had filed papers to come out of retirement and try his luck in the NFL again.
"After seeing my brother still have fun at our age, it reignited the fire," said Barber, referring to his twin brother Ronde, who recently signed on to play his 15th season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of seeing if I can get back to the level of where I was. I started working out again recently. It kind of shocked myself. I still had a lot of the strength I had before. I'm really looking forward to making a return."
Lepselter told FOXSports that there are "interested parties," but the Giants are apparently not one of them. The Giants still hold the rights to Barber, but various reports say that the Giants will release Barber, thus making him a free agent.
Barber, who will turn 36 in April, is a 3-time Pro Bowl selection, an All-Pro selection, and a 'member' of the 10,000 Rushing Yards Club. He has not played in the NFL since 2006, when he ran for 1,662 yards and five touchdowns.
