The replica NBA Finals rings are being handed out to fans as part of a commemoration of the 1990's Chicago Bulls championship lineups. The giveaway is called the 'LeBron James 2011 NBA Championship Replica Ring Giveaway", so there is not mistake that the team is definitely making fun of James.
The release by the team also states, "In addition to the LeBron replica ring, the Chiefs are looking into whether or not the game can skip the fourth inning to honor King James who took off the fourth quarter of every finals game."
Even team President Ricky Vonachan got in on the joke by saying, "We aren't sure if the league will allow it. But if LeBron doesn't need to show up for the fourth, maybe we won't either."
The release also stated, "One lucky fan will win a replica of James' 2011 Finals MVP Award which he earned with his clutch fourth quarter play. Fans will also have the opportunity to learn how to perform the Heimlich to prevent themselves or their colleagues from choking in a big situation."
Vice President of Ticket Sales Eric Obalil made fun of LeBron's controversial comments after Game 6 by saying, "Really this is just us getting back to the real world and waking up today and trying to solve our own personal problems."
James said during a press conference after the Miami Heat's loss that "All the people that was rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today."
He later clarified his statement, saying that he didn't mean to suggest that he thinks that he is better than anyone else.
