Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson was arrested in Texas on Tuesday night for public intoxication. The arrest came just two days after the Mavericks won the 2011 NBA Finals.
Police in Irving, TX went to an apartment complex after receiving a call that an intoxicated person was walking around the area. When they arrived at the complex, the cops found Stevenson, who does not live at the complex, walking around aimlessly.
Stevenson was then arrested on a misdemeanor charge after failing a sobreity test.
"They felt he was a danger to himself and others," said Irving public information officer John Argumaniz. "Basically, he was intoxicated to a point where [police] didn't feel comfortable letting him walk away or leave. They didn't have any other options at that point."
The recent NBA Finals champ was released on $475 bond on Wednesday morning.
The Mavericks team has reportedly declined to comment.
