Charlie Sheen Sues for $100 Million
Fired Actor Sues Former Bosses
According to multiple reports, Charlie Sheen is suing Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre, the creator of the show that Sheen was recently fired from, for $100 million. On Thursday, Sheen filed a lawsuit for breach of contract, demanding that he get paid for 8 scrapped episodes of "Two and a Half Men." He is also seeking damages on behalf of the show's crew.
In the lawsuit, Sheen's attorney Marty Singer writes, "Lorre, one of the richest men in television who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, believes himself to be so wealthy and powerful that he can unilaterally decide to take money away from the dedicated cast and crew of the popular television series Two and a Half Men in order to serve his own ego and self-interest, and make the star of the Series the scapegoat for Lorre's own conduct."
"Warner Brothers capitulated to Lorre's egotistical desire to punish Mr. Sheen and to stop work on the Series for the rest of the season," the lawsuit continues, "and used its powerful public relations machine to create a myth to justify their conduct by wrongly blaming Mr. Sheen."
According to a report from TMZ.com, "Singer alleges the decision to cancel the 8 episodes was made BEFORE Sheen criticized Lorre, because Lorre allegedly wanted out so he could work on his other shows -- and because he hated Sheen... [Furthermore,] Singer claims they fired Charlie when he was sick, and that's a violation of State and federal law."
And according to a report from People.com, Sheen alleges that he put up with Lorre "humiliating, harassing and disparaging" him.
Shortly after the news broke, Sheen tweeted the following message: "#Fastball; Torpedo away... You corporate Trolls were warned. And now you've been served!"
Neither Warner Bros., CBS, nor Lorre have any comment on the filing.
