Three-time WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoopes is returning to the league. On Monday, Tulsa Shock coach and general manager Nolan Richardson confirmed that Swoopes had signed with his team.
Swoopes , 40, last played for the WNBA in 2008, during her only year with the Seattle Storm. Prior to that, she had played exclusively for the Houston Comets since the inaugural season of the WNBA in 1997. Swoopes spent the last few years playing basketball overseas.
Swoopes is considered by many to be the 'Michael Jordan of the WNBA'. Since joining the WNBA back in 1997, Swoopes has won 4 WNBA titles, 3 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, and 3 WNBA MVP titles.
