Glenn Beck to Quit Fox News Show
News Personality to End Show
Glenn Beck and FOX News jointly announced on Wednesday that the polarizing and often ridiculed news anchor will be ending his show soon.
Beck said that he will "transition off his daily program" to focus on developing and producing other programs on the FOX network via his Mercury Radio Arts company.
According to the statement, Beck and FOX "will work together to develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the FOX News Channel as well as content for other platforms including FOX News' digital properties."
Beck and FOX did not announce an exact date for Beck's final show, but they did say that it will air sometime "later this year."
During its prime, The Glenn Beck Show was the third-highest rated program in all of cable news, which was particularly impressive because it aired at 5 PM. In its first two years, the show was a big hit for FOX News, but it has been declining recently because of Beck's rants, which are often perceived as strange, over-the-top, or even artificial.
Still a popular political pundit, Beck has a very popular radio show and has written various best-selling books. Which is why FOX chairman Roger Ailes is looking forward to continuing a partnership with Beck.
"Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anyone's standards," said Ailes. "I look forward to continuing to work with him."
And Beck also spoke warmly of Ailes.
"I truly believe that America owes a lot to Roger Ailes and Fox News," said Beck in a statement. "I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I've learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership."
