Real Mom of 'The Fighter' Dies
Mother of Micky Ward Passes Away
Alice Ward, the mother and manager of former boxer Micky Ward, passed away on Wednesday after she was pulled off of life support.
Ward was portrayed by actress Melissa Leo in the movie The Fighter, which features Mark Wahlberg as Micky and Christian Bale as his half-brother Dicky Ecklund.
Ward went into cardiac arrest in January and was placed on life support soon thereafter. Ecklund confirmed the death of his mother to the Lowell Sun on Wednesday afternoon.
Ward was 79.
