On Sunday, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade shrugged off the idea of anyone trying to seek revenge on him for having been involved in the fall that led to Rajon Rondo's dislocating his elbow.
During the Boston Celtics' Saturday defeat of the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, Rondo dislocated his elbow after falling hard to the floor with Wade. After the fall, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers had to calm down some of his players to keep them from seeking some kind of retribution on Wade.
But Wade doesn't feel that any kind of retribution is warranted.
"It's basketball. Keep them back from what? Are they going to beat me up? For what?" said Wade on Sunday. "Did anyone watch the replay? Obviously I watched it. I'm done, I've moved on from that."
Wade said that he doesn't feel it was a dirty play. And Rivers agrees with him.
"It was a hard foul," said Rivers. "Let's put it like this. He didn't intend to hurt Rondo. I don't honestly believe in 99 percent of cases in our league the player ever intends to hurt anybody. But he did and it just happens."
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra echoed Wade's and Rivers' sentiments.
"It looked like a normal contact foul, he just landed on it wrong," said Spoelstra. "Those things happen. There's a lot of contact. There's a lot more plays more physical than that where guys didn't get hurt."
