CBS confirmed on Thursday that TV and movie actor Ashton Kutcher will join the cast of 'Two and a Half Men' as Charlie Sheen's replacement.
"I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes," said Kutcher. "I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"
Jon Cryer and Angus Jones, who play the other man and a half on the show, are reportedly returning to the show, so they will star alongside Kutcher.
"We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family," said the show's creator and producer, Chuck Lorre. "Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it'd be illegal."
Kutcher will NOT be playing the character of Charlie Harper, previously played by Sheen; instead, Kutcher will play someone else who comes to the house in Malibu.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Lorre has crafted a storyline that will introduce Kutcher into the show in a humorous way.
"It's really funny," said a source. "People are going to love it."
Kutcher tweeted a clue that he would be joining the show on Thursday, writing "What's the square root of 6.25?" (It's 2.5, or two and a half).
After hearing the news of his replacement, Sheen told TMZ, "Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton. There is no air, laughter, loyalty, or love there."
He also said, "Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer ... Oh wait, so am I!!"
According to a report from TMZ, Kuthcer will be making anywhere between $800,000 and $900,000 per episode, less than the $1.25 million was Sheen was making when he left the show.
