Canadian golfer Isabelle Beisiegel became the first female golfer ever to earn a playing card for a professional men's tournament on Friday.
Beisiegel, 32, finished equal ninth in the Canadian Professional Golf Tour's Spring Qualifying School to take one of the tournament's last 2 non-exempt spots. She finished 8 over 296.
"I still can't believe it. It's a little overwhelming," Beisiegel said. "I went into today just trying not to get ahead of myself. I focused on thinking about where I was and not what could happen. I was assured in the fact that no matter what happened it was going to be OK."
Several women have competed in individual men's events before, but Beiseigel is the first ever to qualify for a men's professional tour.
