Sony Releases the first U.S. Video Walkman

Japan’s top electronic maker, Sony Corp., is set to introduce a new U.S. version of its walkman that has the ability to play digital videos. Potentially being the most recent rival to Apple’s iPod.

Sony, one of the world's biggest electronics makers, said its NWZ-A810 and NWZ-S610 series of Walkman digital music players would be available in the U.S. this September.

Both new walkman models will have the ability to play a variety of music formats such as MP3 and Microsoft Corp's WMA, which will provide more choices for downloading and managing music and video collections online.

Sony predicts that both the NWZ-A810 and the NWZ-S610 will possess a longer batter life ranging from eight to nine hours. Prices will range from $120 to $230, based upon model type and functionality.

The announcement comes as no surprise that Apple and other rivalries will introduce new editions to its ever-changing product line of iPod’s. Speculations have been made to say that invitations have been disbursed for a September 5 event in California for Apple.
