Vodafone
has unveiled the second “Google phone” at the Mobile World Congress being held
in Barcelona, Spain, dubbing the touchscreen phone the HTC Magic.
Based
on the Google operating system Android, Vodafone’s offering will feature Wi-Fi
and GPS along with a 3.2 Megapixel camera. Unlike the first “Google phone,” the
G1, the HTC Magic does not have a slide out keyboard.
Using
the Android firmware will enable owners to access hundreds of applications
offered through the Android Market.
The
HTC Magic will come preloaded with several Google applications that include
YouTube, Mail, Search and Maps.
Vodafone
will place the new HTC Magic in France, Germany, Spain and the UK and non-exclusively
in Italy.
